Words from a Journal - #10

Words from a journal of a student of Spiritual Discipline

February 11, 2010 - The day after our second blizzard of the winter. The word for the day was "cycles".

"Our rest continues with storm upon storm. Isn't it strange that out of chaos - the storm- we receive peace and rest. Renewal comes from rest, but rest comes from chaos - comes after chaos and exertion! Cycles of living - of nature. We should expect ups and downs. We don't exclude God during the chaos, but should cling to him even stronger. During the ups, we should praise him even stronger. Not that we don't still need him, but that we are freer and better able to give thanks and to praise him "Sophia, the Holy Spirit, still beckons. The path is twisted and turning and is up and down - cyclical. Similarly, our openness to the word is also cyclical I know that I have been more open recently and the volume and strength of the words has increased. A really good time. To know that God will speak to oneself is beyond joy. The anticipation each morning is over whelming. I don't want it to stop! I know there is a cycle, but perhaps the length of the cycle will be long and I can be used even more. The thought of a long down period is painful. But I see now that while somethings are cyclical, the love of God for us and his operation in our lives is NOT cyclical. It is always there. We must not let our "human" cycles cause us to praise less or to ask for his help any less!
